# Send a copy of a board

> Give someone their own independent copy of a board. It lands in their Private boards and they own it fully, while your board stays as it is.

Sometimes you want to give a board away rather than work on it together: a template you built for another team, a finished concept for a client who will take it further, or a starting point for a colleague's own project. **Send a copy** gives the other person a board of their own, with everything on it, that they can change freely without touching yours.

## Share, duplicate or send a copy?

![Three ways to give someone a board: Share keeps one board that several people work on, Duplicate makes a second board in the same space, and Send a copy puts an independent copy in another person's Private boards](https://assets.mockflow.com/docs/media/d76658957257499da50a610072c9bcd5.webp)

| You want to | Use | What happens |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Work on the same board with others | **Share** | Everyone works on one board, live. See [Invite people to a space](/docs/invite-people-to-a-space). |
| Try a new direction yourself | **Duplicate** | A second board appears in the same space. See [Rename, duplicate and lock a board](/docs/manage-a-board). |
| Hand a board over to someone | **Send a copy** | An independent copy appears in their Private boards, and they own it. |

## Send a copy

1. In the workspace sidebar, point to the board, click **More options** and choose **Send copy to**.
2. In **Receiver's email**, type the email address the person uses for MockFlow.
3. Click **Send copy**. The dialog confirms that the copy is on its way.

The copy appears in the receiver's **Private boards**, ready to open.

## Questions and answers

### Does the receiver see my changes after I send the copy?

No. The copy is separate from your board from the moment it is sent. Changes on either board stay on that board. To keep working together on one board, share it instead.

### Who owns the copy?

The receiver. They have full ownership rights, so they can rename it, move it into one of their spaces, share it with their own team or delete it.

### What does the copy include?

The content of the board as it is when you send it. Your own board is not changed or moved.

### Who can send a copy?

The owner and admins of the space the board is in see **Send copy to** in the board menu.

### What does the receiver need?

A MockFlow account on a paid plan, under the email you type. If no account uses that email, or the account is on the Basic plan, the dialog says so and nothing is sent.

### Is it available on every plan?

Sending a copy is available on paid plans. On a trial, the dialog shows **Sending a copy is available on paid plans.** with an **Upgrade** button. See [MockFlow pricing](https://mockflow.com/pricing/) for details.
