# MockFlow for Zapier

> Use the MockFlow app in Zapier to make boards with AI from a trigger in any of thousands of apps, and when to use Zapier instead of MockFlow automations.

Zapier connects MockFlow to thousands of apps. With the MockFlow app in Zapier, an event in another app, such as a new form response, a won deal or a new document, makes a board in MockFlow with AI. You set it up in Zapier as a Zap: a trigger in one app, then a MockFlow action.

## Zapier or MockFlow automations?

MockFlow can make boards from your apps in two ways. They work from opposite directions:

| | MockFlow automations | Zapier |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Where you set it up | In MockFlow, on the Automations page | In Zapier, as a Zap |
| What starts it | A schedule, a MockFlow event, an event in a built-in app, or **Run** | A trigger in any of thousands of apps on Zapier |
| Apps | The apps built into MockFlow, such as Zoom, Jira, Notion, Slack and Gmail | Any app on Zapier, including ones MockFlow does not connect itself |
| What it makes | Any board or component you pick, a new board each run or an update to one you have | A board planned by AI from the text the Zap passes in |
| After the board | Post it to Slack, email it or save a picture to Google Drive | Any later steps in your Zap, using the board link |
| Plan | Max | Any plan with AI credits |

**Use automations** when the app you need is built into MockFlow, when you want a schedule or a MockFlow event, or when you want to choose exactly what is made and where. See [What are automations](/docs/what-are-automations).

**Use Zapier** when the app you need is not built into MockFlow, or when the board is one step in a longer workflow your team already runs in Zapier.

In MockFlow, the Automations page points you to Zapier for apps it does not connect: the **Apps** view has an **Other apps, through Zapier** row, and searching for an app that is not listed offers **Use {name} through Zapier**.

## Create Multiboard: what the MockFlow action does

The MockFlow app in Zapier offers the **Create Multiboard** action. It takes a piece of text from the trigger, such as a brief, a request or meeting notes, and MockFlow AI plans and builds a board of several frames from it, the same way Mida does in the editor. For example, a project brief can become a board with a mind map of goals, a timeline and a kanban of first tasks.

- **Text:** what the board should be about. Map it to the part of the trigger that describes the work.
- **Designspace:** the MockFlow space the board goes into.
- **Project:** the board in that space to build on, or a new board.

Zapier gets the board link back straight away, while the board is built in the background. Use the link in later steps of the Zap, for example to post it in a channel or attach it to a ticket.

Each board uses your AI credits, the same credits Mida uses. When your credits are used up, the action stops making boards until they reset. See [pricing](https://mockflow.com/pricing/) for the credits on each plan.

## Set up a MockFlow Zap

1. In Zapier, create a Zap and choose the app and event that should start it, for example a new response in your form tool.
2. Add an action step, search for **MockFlow** and choose **Create Multiboard**.
3. Connect your MockFlow account when Zapier asks, and sign in to MockFlow.
4. Choose the **Designspace** (your MockFlow space) and the **Project** (the board to build on, or a new one).
5. Map **Text** to the part of the trigger that describes what to build, such as the brief or the request description.
6. Test the step, then turn the Zap on.

Every new trigger now makes a board in that space. Open it from the space in MockFlow, or from the link in your Zap's history.

## Zap ideas

- **Creative brief to campaign board:** a new response in a campaign brief form makes a board with the goals, audience and a content plan in the Marketing space.
- **Won deal to kickoff board:** a deal marked as won in your CRM makes a client kickoff board with goals, stakeholders and a timeline.
- **Support theme to planning board:** a new tagged ticket in your help desk makes a board that maps the problem and the next steps.
- **New course to lesson plan:** a new row in a course spreadsheet makes a board with a mind map of the modules and a timeline of the term.
- **Meeting notes from any tool:** a new transcript in a meeting tool MockFlow does not connect makes a board of decisions, owners and next steps.
