# Limitations of MockFlow Bridge

> What MockFlow Bridge does not do: where it can run, what still uses MockFlow AI, one request at a time per board, read-only access, and how agents differ.

MockFlow Bridge runs your own AI agent behind Mida, which brings unlimited generation and access to your local files. Because the agent runs on your computer rather than on MockFlow's servers, Bridge also has limits that MockFlow AI does not. Knowing them up front saves time when something does not work as expected.

## Bridge works only on the computer it runs on

- **Same computer as the board.** Bridge connects to the MockFlow board open in a browser or in the MockFlow desktop app on the same computer. A board open on another computer, a phone or a tablet cannot use it.
- **Only while its window is open.** Bridge runs in a terminal window. When you close the window, or the computer sleeps, the board goes back to MockFlow AI.
- **Not from cloud AI apps.** A ChatGPT conversation, Claude on the web or a Codex cloud task runs on the provider's servers and cannot reach Bridge on your computer. To create boards from those apps, use [MockFlow MCP](/docs/what-is-mockflow-mcp) instead.
- **Only for you.** Bridge runs your agent for the boards you pair in your own browser. Teammates on the same board keep using MockFlow AI unless they run Bridge on their own computers.

## Some AI still runs on MockFlow

- **Media items use MockFlow AI and credits.** AI images, video clips, sound and 3D models can only be generated by MockFlow AI. When you ask for one while connected, Mida tells you, and the item uses AI credits as usual.
- **Concept Builder chat is stored in your account.** Your agent writes the replies, but the conversation is saved to your MockFlow account so the builder remembers it and your team can see it.
- **Connected tools are fetched by MockFlow.** On Max, data from Jira, Notion, Slack and other tools you connect is fetched by MockFlow, where their sign-in is stored, and then passed to your agent.

## One request at a time on each board

Each board runs one request on your agent at a time. If you send a new message while your agent is still working, Mida replies that the local agent is still working on the previous message. The same applies when an item is already generating on the board. Wait for the current request to finish, or stop it, then try again.

When Mida plans a complete board, your agent creates several items at once, and Mida arranges them in the order you chose.

## Bridge reads, and does not change

- **Your files.** Your agent can read the folder you share with `--workspace` and files you attach in Mida, but does not edit, create or delete files.
- **Your connected tools.** Through Bridge, your agent can read your connected tools but cannot post messages, create issues or delete anything in them.

## Time limits

- **AI on an item.** If your agent does not finish generating or changing an item within two minutes, the request stops and the item is generated by MockFlow AI instead.
- **Board plans.** Each item in a board plan has up to ten minutes to finish.
- **Dropped connections.** If the connection to Bridge drops while Mida is answering, Mida shows **Lost connection to the local bridge.** and that request is lost; reconnect and send it again. An item that is being generated keeps going on your agent and is filled in when the board reconnects.

## AI agents behave differently

Bridge passes your request to your agent, so results depend on the agent and model you use:

- Codex and opencode send their reply in one piece when they finish, instead of word by word.
- opencode cannot search the web; it can only open a page you name.
- Gemini CLI has basic support and Cursor CLI is experimental, so some requests may not draw as expected.
- When an agent updates to a version newer than the one Bridge was tested with, Bridge shows a warning when it starts, and some requests may not work as expected until you update Bridge with `mockflow-bridge update`.

## Limits on the Basic plan

On Basic, Bridge runs on Claude Code only, on one board at a time, with a daily number of free generations, and without reading local files or connected tools. Plus and Max include Bridge Pro, which removes these limits. See [MockFlow Bridge on each plan](/docs/mockflow-bridge-on-each-plan).
