Whether you can edit a board someone shared with you depends on two things: the role they gave you, and the plan on your own MockFlow account.

## The board opens without editing tools

You were invited as a **Reviewer**. Reviewers see the board live, comment, react and export, but do not get the editing tools. Ask the person who shared the board, or an admin of its space, to change your role to **Editor**. See [Reviewer, editor and admin roles](/docs/reviewer-editor-and-admin-roles).

## Basic plan does not allow co-editing

The free Basic plan is for your own boards. Opening a board from another account where you are an editor or admin shows **Basic plan does not allow co-editing projects shared from other accounts. Upgrade your plan to edit this project.** Click **OK** to go back to your boards.

To edit boards together with other accounts, upgrade to Plus or Max. See [Upgrade your plan](/docs/upgrade-your-plan).

If your account belongs to a team license, the message says **Basic plan does not allow co-editing shared projects. Ask your license administrator to upgrade your account OR purchase a license**. Ask your license administrator to give you a paid seat. See [How team licenses work](/docs/how-team-licenses-work).

## Permission denied

**Permission denied. Check with project owner.** means your account no longer has access to the board, for example because you were removed from its space or the board was moved. Ask the owner to share it with you again. See [Share a board with people](/docs/share-a-board-with-people).
